VFW Post 9761 meets at the David H. McNerney American Legion Post, here in Crosby. The post is located at 14890 FM-2100
at 7:00PM, on the second Thursday of each month.

Scout of the Year WHO CAN ENTER Scouts who are registered, active members of a Boy or Girl Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or a Sea Scout Ship who have received the Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scout Gold Award, Venture Summit Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award. There is no minimum age requirement for applicants as long as all other eligibility criteria has been met. The maximum age requirement for applicants is 18 years old and if an applicant reaches their 18th birthday during the nomination year they remain eligible as long as they are still in high school at the time of the submission deadline. HOW TO ENTER Scouts should download and submit a completed VFW Scouting Scholarship form, resume of high school activities, scouting record, community service record and letters of recommendation to a local VFW Post no later than March 1. Locate your local Post here. Note: A Scout can enter through ONE VFW Post only. HOW IT WORKS Local VFW Posts submit their winning candidates with full entry criteria to their respective VFW Department (state) by April 1. Ensure that if a District judging is taking place that entries are forwarded to the District first and that enough time is allotted to ensure that the Department still receives the entry by April 1. From there, the Department selects a winner and forwards the entry to the VFW National Headquarters by May 1 for recognition.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars was founded on the principles of service, sacrifice, and commitment to those who have defended our great nation. At VFW Post 9761, we strive to honor those principles by supporting our fellow veterans, assisting their families, recognizing the sacrifices of our service members, and strengthening the community we proudly serve.
Our Post is more than a meeting place for veterans. It is a place where camaraderie is built, friendships are strengthened, patriotism is encouraged, and service continues long after the uniform comes off. We remain committed to ensuring that no veteran feels forgotten and that those who have served our country know they are valued and appreciated.
We invite veterans, active-duty service members, their families, and members of the public to learn more about our Post, participate in our activities, and join us in supporting the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
Your support, involvement, and willingness to serve alongside us make a difference. Together, we can preserve the traditions of the VFW, support those who have served, and build a stronger community for future generations.

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where he served for years in Vietnam. He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years. He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country". The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.
